If the story about the woman in court touched your heart, I’d love to tell you more about the judge. He’s my best friend, and His name is Jesus Christ. He paid the price for every wrong thing we’ve even done, yet He doesn’t hold resentment against us for it. I hope His unconditional, overwhelming love and forgiveness become as personal and life-changing to you as they have become to me!
If you’re ready for more information, the explanation I typed below includes links to Bible verses.
Just like the woman in the story, we have all done things that are wrong (“sins”). These sins (even ones that seem small, like lying) keep us from being free, and separate us from God. We owed Him a debt we couldn’t pay. Since we couldn’t fix the problem ourselves, God sent a Savior. His Son came to Earth in the form of a man named Yeshua (“Jesus” in the English language), to rescue us. He lived a perfect life, and willingly died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins so we could escape punishment and become righteous through Him, reconciled to God. Soon after being placed in a tomb, He was resurrected (He came back to life, defeating death)! He wants you to be part of His family, and you can be if you receive Jesus by believing in Him, asking Him to forgive your sins and to be your Savior.
Although you can use your own words to ask Jesus to forgive you, the following is something you can pray if you would like (it includes some things that are very helpful if you want to live a victorious life in Christ, but aren’t essential for finding forgiveness from your sins).
“Jesus, thank You for loving me enough to die for me. Please forgive me for all the things I’ve done that were wrong. Help me not to live in condemnation, but to live knowing that I’m loved by You, and to get healing from all the hurt I’ve been through. Please fill me to overflowing with Your love, peace, joy and wisdom in my heart and mind, and with the power of the Holy Spirit. Please help me to stay away from sin, even when temptation is strong. Keep me on the right path for my entire life. Please help me to grow in love and knowledge of You as I try to seek You and Your will for my life, trusting You even when times are tough. Thank You for everything, Jesus. In Your name, amen!”
If you have prayed this prayer, or would like to tell us something, or have otherwise been touched by this message, please let us know below! Not only will talking about Him help you grow in Him, but Jesus asked us to tell others once we realize that He is the Christ.
I’m ending this page with a very comforting quote from Jesus (I remind myself of it quite often). It’s from the Gospel of John, chapter 16, verse 33 (tribulation means trouble, heartache, etc.): “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
